History
The first known history of the Ranch, is that it was a hunting camp for the Nooksank Indians. Being the head waters for Anderson Creek, a salmon creek, starts on the Ranch property and having a small lake with trout. The Nooksank would camp and fish around the Lake.
Then in 1890 the Lindquist family from Sweden, homesteaded 200 acres surrounding the lake and creeks. They built a small cabin on the south end of the lake, which to this day the framework is in place and being used as a barn. They cleared acreage for fruit trees of apples and pears.
The road to the Ranch was one of the only roads east to the Nooksank River Valley. The Ranch was used as a Stage Coach stop for weary travelers and livestock for about a decade.
From 1920 to the 1940's the ranch was a diary farm. Then in 1940 the Lindquist family sold the farm. The new owners cleared the rest of the pear and apple orchards and began raising Herefords and Thoroughbreds.
Since 1990 the current owner has been working and living at MT. Baker Ranch breeding and raising Arabian horses and for many years had an Adult Family Home helping the elderly locals live the last years of their lives with dignity and respect in a safe country environment.
The Ranch is now a working horse ranch, with accommodatioins for people and their horses.
